Abstract
:
This study deals with Rajneesh Osho’s Movement, which is a contemporary topic of oriental spiritual esotericism. It has recently spread significantly because of mass media and technology, and further influenced by social media to reach different segments of society. This movement has acquired a new dimension and a modern form in the West, manifested in its harmful practices to reason, religion, and society. Therefore, this study aims to contribute to the description of this contemporary spiritual movement in its modern and contemporary forms, of which Rajneesh Osho is a prominent figure. Using the inductive approach where Arabic and English studies, as well as media and internet material on this subject were reviewed, data were collected and analyzed. Then, data were presented and studied objectively according to the Islamic teachings. The study found that Osho's contemporary spiritual movement fights religions and destroys axioms of reason. It also controls public thought for both its proclaimed superiority and its combination of primitive Eastern techniques and holistic western psychology techniques. Moreover, its involvement in drug smuggling and trafficking has spread corruption and moral decay. The dangers this movement causes stem from its attempt to control communities economically, politically, and militarily. Lack of studies on its development and its contemporary esoteric formations led to its spread in the west. Therefore, the study recommends that more investigation is conducted on this movement to probe and control its ramifications. Studies need to define the essence of this movement so that legal entities can scrutinize it and undertake necessary prosecutions and close loopholes in the legal systems to prevent it from destroying the community. Keywords: Rajneesh Osho, Spiritualistic Thought, New Religious Movements, Feminism, Mind Control.
