The COVID-19 epidemic could destroy the health and lives of billions of people worldwide. Positive safety culture is associated with improved patient safety and, in turn, patient outcomes. Patient safety culture can be increased when the nurses exhibit organizational citizenship behavior that enhances efficiency, increases productivity, decreases the costs of errors, and, in general, maintains a good environment in the workplace. Aim: To investigate the relationship between nurses' organizational citizenship behavior and patient safety culture. Methodology: In this quantitative cross-sectional descriptive correlational study, a stratified random sample of 315 nurses was selected from two large governmental hospitals in Jeddah City, Saudi Arabia. Data was collected by using three self-report questionnaires: demographic information, a hospital survey on PSC (HSPSC), and OCB questionnaire. Results: Nurses had an overall high level of OCB (3.86±0.35) and high scores for all dimensions. However, nurses had a moderate level of PSC (2.88±0.76), and the composites ranged from a medium to a high level, except the composite of organizational learning. Furthermore, there is a statistically significant positive relationship between nurses’ OCB and nurses’ PSC (r = 0.354, p-value < 0.01). Conclusion: Increasing the nurses' OCB level will increase their level of PSC. Nurses' OCB levels and nurses' PSC levels differ according to their nationalities, ages, and years of experience in the hospital. Recommendations: This study recommended engaging staff nurses in educational programs regard the citizenship and patient safety.
